It’s midsummer. The days are at their longest, and there is nothing better than being outdoors. The large garden of Hazelnut House is slowly revealing its full summer splendour. Sweet, dark cherries hang from the old tree, and the raised beds are brimming with herbs, edible flowers, and crisp salads. White linen blankets flutter on the clothesline, waiting to be spread over the garden tables. Summer is in the air, and we cordially invite you to join us. Come — we’re having a party!

In the afternoon, we gather in the summer garden dressed in white to enjoy our first glass of organic Crémant Rosé and get to know one another. On the terrace, we open our romantic Rose Café, serving homemade cinnamon buns, a slice of our legendary rose cake, and freshly brewed coffee and tea.

Under the roofed terrace, large vases overflow with wonderful summer flowers and delicate grasses. For our midsummer celebration, we weave the most beautiful flower wreaths in all the colours of the season. Everyone creates their own wreath — each one a lovingly crafted little work of art. The garden of Hazelnut House is adorned with birch branch arrangements and bright ribbons that dance joyfully in the wind. And of course, there is music!

We prepare everything together. The last ingredients are gathered from the kitchen garden, and soon the big kitchen is ready for us to cook all the delicious midsummer dishes: chilled cucumber soup, lemon butter for our bread, Matjes with dill potatoes, summer salads with fresh pea pods, small homemade Köttbullar, and strawberry tiramisu. As evening falls, lanterns in the fruit trees slowly begin to glow. We enjoy our second apéritif in the kitchen garden — homemade Köttbullar and cheese biscuits topped with edible flowers — to celebrate the beginning of a wonderful evening. Dinner awaits at the long table set in the middle of the meadow. A gentle midsummer breeze carries the first cricket chirps of the year. Laughter, singing, and dancing fill the air with joy as our midsummer picnic unfolds.

When the stars illuminate the sky above Hazelnut House, we gather around the campfire until the first contented yawns appear. Like precious treasures, the flower wreaths are then lifted from our heads and carried home — a memento of this special day.
