Since her youth, Theresa has dreamed of a long table — one where family and guests from all over the world gather to share meals, stories, and laughter. Around this table, the most beautiful conversations unfold. Each guest brings their own story into the house, and we feel like collectors of treasures, curating moments that stay in our hearts long after the candles have burned low.
To sit together — at breakfast, at dinner, or during our small kitchen gatherings — is a moment that never loses its magic. In today’s world, the sense of belonging, loyalty, and genuine connection that arises here feels like a precious gift. Most of our guests share a love of nature, a deep appreciation for good ingredients, and a sensitivity to beauty in the simple things.
Our kitchen is rooted in the rhythm of the seasons. The ingredients come from our own garden and local producers: herbs like thyme, rosemary, and sage grow along our dry stone wall; berries ripen in the summer sun; and in autumn we harvest heirloom apples and pears from our orchard. Beneath two grand walnut trees, our happy hens lay eggs in the softest shades of mint.
We bake with organic eggs and spelt flour, and we cook with heart — using honest, aromatic ingredients to create simple, natural dishes that reflect our philosophy of care and authenticity. Whether it’s breakfast at sunrise, a shared dinner at the long table, a lovingly packed lunch bag, a picnic in the garden, or a birthday cake made in our kitchen, every bite tells a story of home, craftsmanship, and joy.
At Hazelnut House, the long table has already witnessed countless moments of laughter and friendship — and it continues to tell the most beautiful stories.
The first rays of sunlight spill gently over the hills, the birds awaken, and their songs drift through the forest in the crisp morning air. A new day begins to unfold — slowly, softly, full of promise. From the kitchen comes the quiet clinking of dishes and the comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee.
Our long table, bathed in morning light, is set for breakfast. It’s a moment to pause, to watch the world awaken through the many windows, and to savour the beauty of a slow, mindful morning.
Freshly baked bread from the oven meets creamy French butter and homemade jams. There are warm cinnamon knots and scones, a selection of fine cheeses, fresh seasonal fruit, and à la carte egg dishes made with eggs from our own hens who roam beneath the walnut trees outside. Coffee and tea are freshly prepared, and juice from the neighbouring village completes the table.
Every Thursday to Sunday from 8:00 to 10:00 am, guests from near and far gather here to share these tranquil morning hours — a time filled with gentle conversation, the scent of coffee, and the feeling of belonging.
Price (for non-resident guests): €29 per adult and €19 per child.
For those who wish to linger a little longer, brunches can also be arranged on request.
When evening falls and the hills glow in the golden light of the setting sun, a gentle warmth begins to unfold at Hazelnut House. Candlelight flickers through the windows, guiding you inside. Through the open doors, you step into the foyer, where a magnificent wreath welcomes you with its soft fragrance. Just beyond, the bar invites you to begin the evening with an aperitif — perhaps a glass of our elegant Hazelnut House Crémant, a carefully selected regional wine, or a refreshing beer from Luxembourg’s last remaining private brewery.
Before dinner, we gather for a small round of introductions. The ice melts quickly, and soon the room hums with friendly conversation and laughter. “There’s a very special wind blowing at this little hotel on the hill,” a guest once said, “a wind that connects us as strangers and lets us leave as friends.” And so children, couples, solo travellers, families, and grandparents all take their seats together at the long table. Everyone is welcome.
For those who prefer a romantic tête-à-tête, we’re always delighted to recommend some wonderful restaurants nearby in the Müllerthal.
With great care and a love for detail, we prepare our three-course menus ourselves, served Tuesday to Friday evening at 7:00pm — always fresh, seasonal, and inspired by the nature that surrounds us.
On Saturday evenings, Hazelnut House comes alive for our small kitchen party: after the starter, aprons are tied and together we bake tarte flambée in the kitchen. Outside, the fire basket glows in the garden, and when the stars appear, we gather by the dry stone wall to enjoy dessert beneath the night sky.
Price (for non-resident guests): €59 per adult and €29 per child.
For guests who wish to take a little taste of Hazelnut House with them, our lunch bags are a perfect companion. Available by request with one day’s notice, each bag is thoughtfully prepared with care and attention.
Inside, you’ll find a hearty, lovingly made sandwich, fresh fruit from our garden, and a selection of delicate biscuits — all designed to provide both nourishment and delight. Whether you’re heading out on a scenic hike through the hills or embarking on your journey home, these lunch bags make every moment along the way a little more special.
Price (only for hotel guests): €25 per person
Surrounded by the picturesque landscapes of the Müllerthal, Hazelnut House invites you to linger, breathe deeply, and enjoy a picnic in nature’s embrace. Forests, traditional orchard meadows, and hilltops all offer idyllic settings: whether it’s the meadow above the house, a quiet spot beneath the old fruit trees, the historic church wall, or the Michelsberg with its stunning sunset views — each location has its own magic. Paired with our lovingly prepared picnic, these moments become truly unforgettable.
At the reception, we provide a beautifully packed woven picnic trolley, ready to accompany you on your outdoor adventure. Our picnic map guides you to the most enchanting spots, and the joy begins as soon as you lay out your Hazelnut House picnic blanket, handwoven from Harris Tweed and English waxed cotton.
